Polyalphaolefin (PAO) is a synthetic oil composed of a variety of polyalphaolefins, which has excellent heat resistance, is very stable in high-temperature environment, and is not easy to decompose. It has strong oxidation resistance and can effectively prevent the oxidation and deterioration of the oil film, thereby prolonging the service life of the lubricating oil. In addition, it also has good low-temperature performance, which can still maintain good fluidity at low temperature and will not cause blockage of the lubrication system. Because of its excellent performance, PAO synthetic base oil has become an important component of high-performance lubricants, which is widely used in aviation, automotive, and railway industries. High-quality PAO is usually synthesized from C8 to C12 linear alpha olefins. Among these olefins, 1-C10 is the best raw material for synthesizing PAO base oil, and the PAO base oil produced has a very regular long-chain sparse structure. PAO base oils based on this type of molecule have better viscosity-temperature properties and low-temperature fluidity [1, 2].
