Ecological Environment Management in Destinations
摘要
This chapter examines the inevitable negative effects of tourism on destinations and investigates the importance of ecological sustainability for destinations. Tourists are interested in destinations with superior environmental appeal compared to other destinations. In addition to contributing to the development and progress of destinations, tourism activities also lead to negative consequences such as environmental waste, depletion of water resources, problems related to flora and fauna, air, water, and noise pollution. Sustainable development principles aim to develop in harmony with the maintenance of ecological processes, biodiversity, and natural resources. Adoption of sustainable environmental management practices has a positive effect on the quality of the destination’s ecological assets. Approaches such as smart city, eco-city, slow city protect the ecological environment of destinations and ensure the protected use of resources. In this respect, it is thought that the participation of tourism stakeholders in tourism planning processes and the adoption of policies that protect the ecological environment will be an effective approach in terms of the sustainability of tourism destinations.
