This chapter explores 72,548 Boys’ Love (BL) fiction texts from Jinjiang Literature City (JLC) using unsupervised machine learning techniques, including the LDA topic model and Word2Vec algorithm. BL fiction, which focuses on romantic relationships between men yet is predominantly written and read by heterosexual women, embodies a paradox of patriarchy and feminism. The findings show that Chinese BL authors draw extensively on traditional myths and historical narratives to construct a “heterosexual-pattern” fantasy world. Within the framework of Chinese patriarchal culture, particularly the clan-based notion of lineage, BL narratives emphasize themes of marriage, reproduction, and family continuity. By combining large-scale text analysis with social interpretation, this research demonstrates how computational methods can uncover the deep interaction between gender ideology and cultural structure, contributing to the broader understanding of cultural dynamics in the social sciences.

摘要
