The Influence of Tang Dynasty Temple Murals on Han Yu’s Poetry
摘要
The flourishing of Buddhism during the Tang dynasty fostered a remarkable cultural and artistic renaissance, with temple murals standing out as a significant achievement. These murals emerged as a by-product of Buddhist dissemination, centered on conveying theological beliefs and spiritual narratives. However, as a visual art form, Tang dynasty temple murals transcended mere religious didacticism by blending religious imagination with advanced painting techniques. They encapsulated the ingenuity and creativity of countless artists, becoming symbols of the era’s aesthetic consciousness. This artistic vitality extended beyond religious contexts, permeating the broader cultural and artistic landscape of the Tang dynasty, leaving a lasting impact on literary expressions, including the poetry of Han Yu (768–824).
