Experimental Study on the Enhancement of Mechanical Properties of Concrete by Polyvinyl Alcohol Fibers
摘要
To study the effect of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers on the mechanical properties of concrete, experiments were conducted on the cube compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and dynamic elastic modulus of PVA fiber concrete with various volume contents (0%, 0.1%, 0.3%, 0.5%) at different curing ages (3 d, 7 d, 14 d, 28 d). The mechanism by which PVA fibers act on concrete was analyzed, and the best volume content of PVA fibers was ascertained. The results show that various mechanical properties of PVA fiber concrete keep increasing as the curing age grows. The PVA fibers with a volume content of 0.3% exhibit the most remarkable effect in enhancing the cube compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and dynamic elastic modulus of concrete, and the improvement rates are 3.67%, 13.44%, and 5.34%, respectively.
