Schizonepeta (Schizonepeta tenuifolia (Benth.) Briq.), commonly known as Japanese catnip, is an annual herb in the Lamiaceae family. It is also known as fragrant schizonepeta, false perilla, and square-stemmed wormwood. This plant is widely distributed across most regions of China. Medicinally, it is used for its aromatic qualities, slight astringency, and cool, pungent taste. Schizonepeta can relieve exterior syndromes, dispel wind, facilitate eruption, and reduce swelling, treating conditions such as colds, headaches, measles, urticaria, and initial stages of abscesses.
