This chapter explores the ideological resources underpinning Chinese rule of law discourse, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to national characteristics and inheriting excellent rule of law cultures. It draws on Western liberal rule of law ideology as a significant reference, highlighting its contributions to human civilization while noting its limitations. The chapter also delves into Chinese traditional political thought, extracting valuable elements such as people-oriented governance, benevolent governance, and rule by virtue. It argues for the innovative development of Chinese rule of law discourse by integrating these traditional thoughts with socialist rule of law principles.
