Gender-Sensitive Communication Strategies for Climate Change
摘要
Gender-sensitive communication strategies are essential for an effective awareness of climate change because they recognize and satisfy the unique experiences and needs of several populations, particularly the underrepresented communities. This book chapter argues that the integration of gender perspectives not only improves commitment, but also promotes trust and collaboration, leading to more environmental actions. Case studies based on various research represent this argument, presenting initiatives where inclusive stories have allowed marginalized groups. For example, it has been shown that programs that take advantage of the local knowledge of women in agricultural practices improve community resilience against climatic impacts while promoting gender equity. Additionally, awareness campaigns explicitly address the specific risks faced by marginalized women and sexes, such as access to resources and decision-making power, disputes the effectiveness of messages made to raise awareness and behavior in participation in efforts to attenuate the climate. In these contexts, a survey done in the state of Chhattisgarh shows that gender-sensitive communication serves as a catalyst to promote inclusive participation. It examines that a successful climate action is based on the integration of gender considerations in communication strategies, which can catalyze transformative change within communities while improving the general efficiency of consciousness.
