In this chapter, we discuss the overall system design for indoor acoustic positioning. We cover the physical architecture of sound-based positioning systems, the signal processing algorithms for distance measurement, the extension to three-dimensional localization, and techniques adopted from GPS systems to enable multiple devices to operate concurrently.
