Hydrothermal Liquefaction: A Novel Biofuel Production Technique
摘要
Hydrothermal liquefactionHydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL) is an advanced technology that converts wet biomassWet biomass feedstockBiomass feedstock into biofuelBiofuel under high temperatures and pressures. Compared with other thermochemical methods, HTL facilitates the usage of wet biomassWet biomass; hence, the cost of drying can be avoided. The various types of HTL processes, viz., batch, continuous, fast, and co-HTL, as well as their mechanism, are explained in the chapter. The chapter provides detailed insight into the factors affecting the HTL, like temperature, pressure, retention time, heating value, biomass-to-solvent ratio, and the effect of catalysts and solvents on HTL efficiency. The chapter also dealt with various biofuelBiofuel products and their applications. Finally provides suggestions for future studies.
