The equations presented in the previous chapters, e.g., the constitutive relation, are in the 3D space. To solve the engineering problems, these 3D formulations have to be solved, which is complex in some scenarios. It should be noted in some scenarios, the complex 3D problems can be simplified into 2D problems and consequently the calculations can be simpler and easier. In this chapter, the conditions when the 3D problems can be simplified into 2D problems are explained and the formulations related to plane elasticity are discussed.

摘要

The equations presented in the previous chapters, e.g., the constitutive relation, are in the 3D space. To solve the engineering problems, these 3D formulations have to be solved, which is complex in some scenarios. It should be noted in some scenarios, the complex 3D problems can be simplified into 2D problems and consequently the calculations can be simpler and easier. In this chapter, the conditions when the 3D problems can be simplified into 2D problems are explained and the formulations related to plane elasticity are discussed.
