The enormous quantities of waste rubber (WR) and waste plastics (WP) being generated on a daily basis and their disposal/dumping/accumulation in the landfills creates a serious geoenvironmental concern worldwide. These WR and WP are highly resistant to degradation and thus have longer lifespan, contributes to pollution, generate microplastics and pose challenges for waste management. Therefore, there is an urgent need to clean landfills consist of WR and WP and utilize these materials for sustainable infrastructure development. Thus, this paper explores the potential of valorization of WR and WP recovered from landfills as raw materials for the production of components to be used for construction applications. The transformation of waste materials into resource addresses the issue of landfill cleaning and aligns with the principles of sustainable resource management and, thus circular economy. This study also highlights the potential applications of these components for infrastructure development, highlighting their potential to replace or supplement natural resources. Furthermore, the techno-economic-commercial-environmental benefits of these resources have been discussed elaborately in this paper.

摘要
