Localized prostate cancer is classified into low, intermediate and high risk based on the T-stage, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and Gleason score (GS). Outcome in low-risk prostate cancer patients is excellent, and the treatment options include active surveillance, external beam radiotherapy or brachytherapy and radical prostatectomy, balancing benefit and potential overtreatment.
