Introducing AI-Powered Corpus Translation Studies
摘要
This chapter introduces Generative AI (GenAI) to analyse three early English translations of Fontenelle’s Entretiens sur la pluralité des mondes (1686), advancing digital Corpus Translation Studies (CTS). GenAI streamlines annotation, alignment, and comparative analysis, shifting scholars’ roles toward methodology and interpretation. Covering all CTS phases, the study employs parallel corpora and Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS) techniques for a comprehensive comparison, considering the challenges posed by the seventeenth-century historical context. GenAI facilitates rapid synthesis but requires critical oversight; reliability is ensured through cross-validation with multiple AI systems. Selected examples illustrate methods and findings, with all materials available online for further research in digital humanities.
