Relevance of Spirituality to AI Ethics in BANI Times
摘要
This literature review presents the historic and current efforts in the field of AI Ethics and positions spirituality in light of the phenomenon of quantified self. It reveals the recurrence of certain principles, which led to the conceptualisation of AI Ethics frameworks. The inputs from various scholars indicates the scope of diversity in approaches to AI ethics and encourage further efforts with double charge thesis from a spiritual worldview. Such efforts could elaborate on the relationship between AI systems’ design and spirituality, and thus offer an extension to human centric AI and to AI Ethics. It, being a beginner’s observer’s point of view, appears to be the first academic attempt of bringing two diverse topics: AI Ethics and Vedanta together, with a motive to find coherence in the context of AI systems. It lays foundation to further research incorporating Integrative Intelligence, Vedanta philosophy and the K-Model of Spirituality. Leaders, policymakers, spiritualists, technology makers, and enthusiasts in the field of AI ethics, may find this diverse approach helpful, in the design and governance of technological artefacts.
