Importance of Sustainable Agriculture: Focus on Climate-Smart Sustainable Agriculture
摘要
Sustainable agriculture is important in ensuring global food security. Unlike conventional farming, which often depends heavily on chemical inputs, machinery, and nonrenewable resources, sustainable practices prioritize sustainability, efficient resource use, ecological balance, and resilience against environmental stresses. Traditional farming methods contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions as well as a number of issues including deforestation, soil degradation, water contamination, and biodiversity loss. In contrast, sustainable agricultural systems promote crop rotation, organic soil management, and agroforestry, which restore ecosystem health. Moreover, sustainable agriculture emerges as a vital strategy to meet global food demands without depleting natural resources. This chapter examines the core principles and benefits of climate-smart sustainable agriculture, highlighting its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
