The combination of digital twins (DTs) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in water resources management for agriculture is a revolutionary development that brings about a new era of precision and sustainability in the agriculture of the future. This section of the text visualizes the DTs’ virtual copies of the material world in agriculture, which utilize AI-enabled analytics as a type of green technology in a CPS that performs both offline and online activities of system operation and decision support. Using such kinds of technologies for adaptive irrigation is a great example of the many benefits of uninterrupted data flows. The primary benefit of this technological method is that it enables the AI system in this environment to undergo continuous learning and upgrading. The idea of combining AI with DT is an AI machine that can carry out complicated pattern recognition and optimization tasks in the digital twin environment, thus achieving higher precision and scalability than almost any of the traditional methods. Issues such as data fragmentation, lack of interoperability, and shortage of digital infrastructure still exist in rural farming areas. These issues have now become the biggest stumbling blocks for the uptake of DT–AI solutions. It is necessary for people from different fields to collaborate, create standards, and invest in digital literacy as well as infrastructure to overcome these challenges. The main theme of this chapter is the crucial part played by the combination of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in water management that is efficient, which is the very heart of the sustainable agricultural practices and the environmental protection that is necessary, therefore resulting in the fulfillment of the need for food and the sustainability of the earth.
