Modelling the Future: Digital Twins in Sustainable and Climate-Aware Farming
摘要
Nowadays, frequent variations have been observed in the climate and hence, different approaches are being adopted during the cultivation of various crops to minimize the adverse effects on the yield. In the current scenario, a number of technologies are developed to alter the production of crops, like prior information about the weather conditions. Therefore, continuous growth is obvious in the area of agriculture to make smart as well as more adaptive to deal with unpredictable challenges. In this regard, improvement is required in the use of Digital Twins in both ways: virtual & real-world farming methods. These models are able to provide real-time data along with their testing and navigating the situations during farming which offers an impactful tool for diligence in agriculture. Application of digital twin technologies, farming practices is able to optimize the resources like water management in irrigation, proper fertilization along with effective pest management. The present paper is based on description of available digital twin technologies and its significance in Agriculture 4.0 for improving the farming yields along with resource optimization even under climate variations. Moreover, it will also enlighten about digital twin techniques and their possibility of integration with modern tools including artificial intelligence, climate models and sensors. Thus, digital technologies can play significant roles in farming as they can give accurate information for irrigation, optimization of crop yields with more efficient, resilient and sustainable agricultural cycle.
