Nanotechnology is one of the most important scientific and technological advances in recent years. It helps reduce industrial waste and pollution, uses money and resources more efficiently, and creates new ways to improve industries. This new wave of technology is helping us work toward sustainable development, which means meeting our needs today without harming the environment or future generations. Because of the unique properties of nanoparticles, nanotechnology is useful in many areas like farming, food production, energy, and protecting the environment. It can solve many environmental problems and is seen as a smart and effective way to achieve sustainability. Nanostructured materials, including metal organic frameworks, nanocomposites, functionalised nanomaterials, nanocatalysts, carbonaceous materials, nanozeolites, nanosilica, nanolubricants, and nanocoatings, among others, offer tremendous opportunities for wastewater treatment, environmental remediation through sustainable means, and the sequestration and reduction of greenhouse gases. Nanotechnology has completely changed antibacterial and medication delivery methods in the healthcare industry. Notwithstanding its benefits, thorough life cycle evaluations and safe-by-design strategies are required due to the health and environmental hazards posed by nanomaterial toxicity. Nanotechnology, in general, presents encouraging avenues for sustainable development; but, in order to guarantee long-term ecological and human safety, its incorporation must be supported by strong risk assessment and regulatory frameworks.

摘要
