Existential Humanities in Digital Communication, Social Media and Online Discourse
摘要
This chapter explores the crucial role of existential humanities in contemporary digital communication with reference to the English classroom in India, while focussing on overcoming challenges. Digital communication is generally not entertained much in the Indian classroom due to its distractive nature. However, if managed well and embedded in an existential humanities context, virtual communication can enable learners to communicate responsibly and ethically, and to fully exploit online resources for better learning. Learners will learn new ways of rationally establishing and negotiating their online identities and reap the benefits of digital education to the fullest. Further, they will be trained to evaluate the authenticity of information, thereby helping combat the fake news challenge.
