Tilting Train Sets with Enhanced Safety
摘要
Trains have always been an efficient mode of transportation around the world since their inception. But most of the initial methods used to increase the speed of the train were centered around the locomotive and the rolling stock. The speed of a train running on a railway line are dependent on two factors: 1. The cant of the Railway line. 2. The ability of the rolling stock to handle the forces that act on the body of a train while moving at higher speeds. The trains around the world remained the same for a very long period of time, till the advent of high-speed rail in Japan. This revolutionized the way trains travelled around the world, now trains started to get better rolling stock and straighter and dedicated railway lines. Straighter railway lines helped trains to linearly accelerate to higher speeds without being affected by the centrifugal forces that would act on the train body during higher speeds. This whole system which is being proposed in this paper aims to achieve increased speeds by optimally tilting during the run on the railway line which would practically allow the trains to run at speeds beyond the current maximum permissible speed. Hence saving time for passengers and making the operations of running trains more optimal and efficient.
