Streptomyces species, a prominent group within the Actinobacteria, thrive in the plant rhizosphere where they exert diverse influences on plant development and physiological processes. These organisms play a significant role in protecting plants against various diseases, primarily through their capacity to act as plant growth-promoting Streptomyces (PGPS). Widely applied in sustainable agriculture, PGPS function as both biofertilizers and biocontrol agents. They are typically produced via fermentation and can be applied to crops through seed coating or soil inoculation methods. Streptomyces spp. and their secondary metabolites exhibit strong antagonistic activity against a wide range of fungal and bacterial phytopathogens, largely attributed to their production of antibiotics and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in both soil and in planta. These bioactive compounds are instrumental in identifying potent antagonists of plant pathogens and have demonstrated efficacy across multiple cropping systems. Furthermore, the plant growth-promoting effects of Streptomyces spp. have been validated in several crops, thereby supporting their broad use as biofertilizers to enhance crop productivity. For practical field applications, formulations of Streptomyces strains using talcum and kaolin as carriers have been developed. Among these, talcum-based formulations exhibited superior cell viability after 6 months of storage, with 4 °C identified as the optimal storage temperature. Field trials utilizing the talcum-based powder formulation resulted in significant improvements in shoot length, shoot and root biomass, grain yield, and individual grain weight.

摘要
