The Designed spaces have a strong bearing on the learnings of the students in educational Institutions. In accordance to The Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016, the spaces in schools should be enabling and inclusive spaces for the learning of PWDs. This sensibility towards design of inclusive spaces should be ideally inculcated in design students, thus this studio explored the idea of sensitizing the young designers through a well-crafted design studio program. This Inclusive Studio Program Approach laid emphasis on special workshops, lectures, and case studies to deepen the understanding of the needs and challenges of PWD school students. The designers’ viewpoints shifted from a sympathetic approach to an empathetic approach for inclusive spaces. This research action-oriented Studio successfully sensitized the design students and opened the platform for further research into the field of inclusive design of spaces.
