Price and Quality
摘要
In recent years, it has become important to ensure high quality construction work. This study presents the average score of publicly reported construction performances of companies published in the performance assessments of civil engineering. Using the ranking as basic data, together with public procurement bidding data, we attempt to understand the relationship between construction quality and price. In most cases, the correlation coefficient by year of ranking value of the construction performance rating was positive and significantly correlated. The bidding rate had a positive and significant relationship with the construction performance rating. Balanced panel data show that the coefficients of bidding rate are negative in the first-degree term (linear term) and positive in the second-degree term (squared term), indicating a U-shaped relationship. This is primarily because of the perception of the firms, policy response, and the change in market competition.
