A new VHF atmospheric radar named ST Radar system is installed at University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. It is an active phased array system with 475 three element Yagi-Uda antennas and equivalent number of transmit-receive modules (TRMs). This radar is more useful for achieving some of the major scientific applications such as lower atmosphere, mesosphere, and ionosphere. This radar is having a huge peak output power of 950 kW at 5% duty ratio. This paper discusses the technical details and major scientific applications with results obtained with the new ST radar system of University of Calcutta.

摘要

A new VHF atmospheric radar named ST Radar system is installed at University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. It is an active phased array system with 475 three element Yagi-Uda antennas and equivalent number of transmit-receive modules (TRMs). This radar is more useful for achieving some of the major scientific applications such as lower atmosphere, mesosphere, and ionosphere. This radar is having a huge peak output power of 950 kW at 5% duty ratio. This paper discusses the technical details and major scientific applications with results obtained with the new ST radar system of University of Calcutta.
