Development and Future Trends of China’s Highway Enterprises
摘要
Supported by national policies, China’s expressway enterprises have continuously developed. Through multi-stage construction and optimization, they have gradually formed a vast and technologically advanced expressway network. With the promotion of intelligent and informatized technologies, smart transportation applications are increasingly prevalent in the expressway sector. This has not only significantly enhanced traffic management efficiency but also accelerated the digital evolution of related industries. Concurrently, the regional layout of the expressway industry is closely tied to local economic development. The eastern coastal regions feature denser road networks, while western regions are progressively strengthening infrastructure construction. Despite notable achievements, the industry still faces challenges such as financing pressures, imperfect management systems, and lagging regulatory frameworks. To achieve high-quality development, it is recommended that expressway enterprises broaden financing channels, optimize management models, strengthen legal and regulatory support, and integrate green environmental concepts with intelligent technologies. Through the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese expressway enterprises actively participate in international infrastructure development, exporting technology and management expertise, thereby demonstrating China's significant role in global infrastructure construction.
