Gaming is considered as effective pedagogy for students’ engagement in higher education. The aim of study is to evaluate the impact of gamification techniques on student engagement in higher education. Thus for exploration of various nuances of gaming pedagogy for students’ engagement present study adopted pre test-post test experimental design. The sample of the study was students of government University in Haryana, India studying in 21 departments. The intervention employed for study was a gamified assessment designed on Kahoot platform. The assessment consisted of questions for National competitive exam for admission in Doctoral programme and qualification for entry in higher education (University Grant Commission, National Eligibility Test Paper 1), which were common for all departments from humanities and social sciences. Results of study suggested that implementation of gamified platforms in higher education can enhance learning outcomes and engagement for both male and female students. By utilizing gamification techniques, educational institutions can tap into the inherent motivational aspects of games to promote student interest, enjoyment, and perseverance in academic pursuits. This, in turn, can lead to improved learning outcomes, increased retention rates, and a more positive overall educational experience.
