The Research of a STEM Instructional Model in Science Class
摘要
Science education has always been regarded as a vital role in cultivating students' 21st-Century skills such as problem-solving ability, critical thinking skills, etc. However, it is still difficult for teachers to lead students to transfer what they learn in science class into real-life situations and think critically in science class. STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ) education, which combines interdisciplinary, experiential, contextual, design-based, and empirical concepts, provides ideas for the instructional model of science education. So this study aims to integrate STEM education and science education. We constructed a STEM instructional model in science class and develop a lesson named “Science-Life Magician”. We conducted a quasi-experimental study in a primary science class of 16 students in China. The results showed that STEM education could improve the students' learning performance, self-efficacy, and learning satisfaction in science class. This study provides valuable insights into the potential of STEM education for enhancing science education.
