Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) are not uncommon in late life. NPS are important clinical manifestations of neurocognitive disorders (NCD). However, it is also important to recognize that NPS are present in people with normal cognition. Some NPS may be related to early-onset functional psychiatric conditions presenting with a chronic course across the lifespan. Other NPS may be associated with underlying NCDs that may carry early diagnostic implications. This chapter outlines the profiles and clinical implications of NPS across the cognitive spectrum.
