It Is Not Just RAS
摘要
Emma is a 15-year-old young lady who presented to the accident and emergency department (AED) for the sudden onset of limb twitching with loss of consciousness, which lasted for 2–3 minutes. Emma has had a history of headaches for 6 months. The headache was dull in nature and bilateral over both occipital regions. There was no association with vomiting or vision disturbances. She had a decrease in appetite and a weight loss of 3–4 kg with night sweats in the past 3 months. The system review had no other significant history. When Emma was assessed at AED, her Glasgow coma scale (GCS) was 15, but she was tired-looking. She was afebrile, and her blood pressure (BP) by oscillometric method was 211/131 mmHg with a pulse rate of 120 bpm. Emma was then admitted to the intensive care unit for the management of hypertensive crisis. What might be causing her hypertension, and how can it be treated?
