Volatile Compounds: Identification, Characterization, Isolation, and Pharmacology in Genus Catharanthus
摘要
Catharanthus species are rich sources of volatile compounds with significant pharmacological potential. This study focuses on the identification, characterization, and isolation of volatile constituents across different Catharanthus species using advanced analytical techniques such as Gas chromatography-Mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The volatile profile includes terpenoids, alkaloids, and aromatic compounds contributing to the plant’s bioactivity. Their pharmacological relevance is assessed, highlighting antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. Understanding these volatiles aids in drug discovery and therapeutic applications. The comprehensive analysis provides insights into the biochemical diversity of Catharanthus, supporting its use in traditional medicine and the development of novel natural product-based pharmaceuticals.
