Between Sea and Sprawl: Flood Risk and Climate Resilience in the Hua Hin–Cha-Am Coastal Corridor
摘要
The Hua Hin–Cha-Am coastal corridor, which stretches along the northern reaches of the Gulf of Thailand, is a rapidly changing landscape, with resort development, upscale real estate, and escalating infrastructure displacing the sleepy charm of small fishing towns. Over the past 20 years, this corridor, which crosses portions of the provinces of Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan, has become a destination for new regional development initiatives as well as a recreational area for Thailand's urban elite (Husa et al., 2014). The region is experiencing a significant demographic, economic, and spatial transformation because to its improved transportation infrastructure, close proximity to Bangkok, and reputation for pristine seaside beauty.
