The position of audiovisual translation (AVT) within translation studies (TS) was initially ambiguous and then it led to a questioning of the discipline. Several factors explain this evolution, over the last three decades, above all, the technology that has allowed the development of various modes of AVT and the spread of different research methods. The chapter aims to lay down the foundations and perspectives offered by the changes currently underway. Our demonstration is done in five stages: we begin with the first works in the 1990s and then deal mainly with two current research directions in AVT (collaborative work and reception), followed by the impact of multimodality; finally, we question some key concepts of TS that are called into question by new practices. The whole calls for both a reconfiguration of TS in relation to other disciplines and a new positioning of AVT among other types of translation.

摘要
