This chapter explores the vulnerabilities of undocumented Uzbek migrants in Finland and Sweden. Drawing on interviews and sociological theories of informality and strain, the authors examine how legal precarity pushes migrants into exploitative labour markets and, in some cases, into minor criminalised activities as survival strategies. The chapter situates undocumentedness within broader structural barriers, including restrictive asylum systems, limited access to welfare, and fear of authorities. Simultaneously, it highlights migrants’ exposure to victimisation—from fraud to labour exploitation—often within their own diasporic networks. By conceptualising migrants as both potential victims and potential offenders, the authors challenge simplified narratives and shed light on the complex interplay between informality, marginalisation, and migrant agency in the Nordic context.

摘要
