As mentioned above, the Mu Us Sandy Land was not barren from the beginning; a thousand years ago, it was rich in water and grass, with many cattle and sheep. However, changes in the natural environment, along with the expansion of human activities such as illegal logging, unplanned reclamation, and overgrazing, have led to the gradual desertification/land degradation of the Mu Us Sandy Land, transforming vast green fields into a massive sea of sand.
