Nano-Farmers: Nanotechnology for Agriculture Transformation
摘要
Agriculture today stands at the intersection of creativity and necessity. Feeding a growing global population while preserving ecosystems is a dual imperative. In this context, nanotechnology offers powerful new approaches for enhancing crop growth and protection. Thousands of naturally occurring structures exist at the nanoscale, and while many technologiesTechnology have unknowingly utilized these nanostructures for decades, it is only in recent years that we have been able to intentionally harness them. Nanotechnology also plays a role in improving seed germinationSeed germination, stimulating plant growthPlant growth, purifying water, and enhancing post-harvest management—ultimately leading to improved quality and extended shelf life of agricultural products. This review further examines key obstacles, including potential toxicity, regulatory challenges, and the need for field-deployable, user-friendly technologiesTechnology. Looking ahead, it envisions a future where nanotechnology is harmonized with sustainable agricultural systemsAgricultural system. This chapter explores several emerging and promising intersections between nanoscience and agriculture, with a focus on nanoscale materials capable of addressing critical challenges in modern farming. Nanofertilizers and nanopesticides represent breakthroughs that enable targeted delivery systems, reducing excessive input use and environmental pollution while optimizing nutrient efficiency. These smart inputs release their contents based on plant needs, reducing reliance on conventional agrochemicals and contributing to ecological balance. Ultimately, this review presents nanotechnology not as a futuristic concept, but as a tangible and adaptable tool capable of reshaping agriculture driving sustainability and making farming smarter, safer, and more responsive to the evolving needs of both people and the planet.
