Over-information or overload of materials in subjects is becoming a problem in online teaching, and this study attempts to verify whether this problem is receiving interest in the scientific field and which are the areas of research that are receiving the most interest within this problem. To do so, a bibliometric study is carried out with the Bibliometrix tool in the Scopus database, which shows an increase in interest in recent years and indicates that the areas of research that are receiving the most interest within this problem range from methods to manage cognitive load to the impact of information overload on learning, analyzing tools and techniques to improve the effectiveness of teaching in digital environments and exploring algorithms to filter relevant information and avoid information overload in these digital environments.
