Adaptive Practice in Sports-Based Video Games Using Behavioral Models

The negative emotions often associated with mathematics education create a vicious cycle that perpetuates low academic performance. To address this issue, this paper proposes the development of a sports-based educational video game aligned with curricular content. The solution integrates behavioral models, including Bloom’s Taxonomy, Fogg’s Behavior Model, and the Optimal Experience Model, to foster intrinsic motivation, positive emotions, and cognitive skill development. By adapting to students’ skill levels and providing scalable difficulty, the proposed video game creates an environment conducive to effective learning and mathematical practice. The study employs an action-research methodology to explore the relationship between emotions, behavior, and learning, offering an innovative and evidence-based approach to enhance educational outcomes.
