Hydrogen is a versatile fuel that can be produced from a wide range of sources and used for a diverse array of applications. Hydrogen can be produced from both fossil fuels and renewables. However, currently, the majority of global hydrogen production is from fossil fuels. In this chapter, hydrogen production from hydrocarbons will be considered. The different technologies, reactions, catalysts used, and challenges will be described. The most efficient and cost-effective route for hydrogen production is steam reforming. The conventional steam reforming is used in industries. Advanced methods of reforming are still under development in the laboratory and have not yet been commercialized. Besides, steam reforming and other methods for hydrogen production are also discussed in this chapter
