Hydrogen Compressors
摘要
Compressing hydrogen is crucial for its storage and transportation due to its low volumetric energy density. This chapter presents a detailed overview of hydrogen compression technologies, which encompass both mechanical and non-mechanical compressors. This chapter examines mechanical compressors such as reciprocating and liquid piston types, highlighting their operational principles and significance for the industrial applications. Non-mechanical compression methods, such as cryogenic compression, metal hydride-based compressors, electrochemical compressors, and adsorption-based systems, are investigated for their mechanisms and performance characteristics. The advantages and disadvantages of each technology are explored in detail, focusing on efficiency, operating pressure, purity, and scalability. A comparative analysis is carried out to evaluate these compressors for different hydrogen energy applications.
