Migration in the Context of the Pandemic
摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive literature review on migration, including an analysis of the reasons behind human migration, changes in migration patterns during the pandemic, migrant adaptation strategies, and the critical role of migration governance. This chapter delves into the fundamental forces driving voluntary and forced migration and how the crisis disrupted migration flows through travel restrictions and economic turmoil, resulting in significant return migration and altered mobility patterns, particularly among low-skilled, informal, and displaced groups. The chapter also reviews migrants' adaptation strategies across economic, social, and cultural dimensions and concludes by discussing the complexities of migration governance amidst the pandemic.
