Several major cities in Indonesia are in the process of becoming global cities, including Solo, which is actively promoting regional tourism and local products such as batik and Solo culinary specialties abroad. Furthermore, street vendor areas have been reorganized, and slum areas have been revitalized. Paris, France, has become a global promotional destination for Solo's Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) production, promoting its global city status. This international exhibition, accompanied by Solo arts and cultural performances, was led by the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Raka Buning Raka. To date, Solo's socioeconomic conditions continue to improve, with social exclusion, poverty, unemployment, and social inequality beginning to decline. This situation has raised awareness that Indonesia needs a new paradigm in its development, one that relies not only on economic growth but also supports socio-cultural aspects to improve community welfare. This development approach is generally referred to as an inclusive development approach. The goal of inclusive development in urban areas is to create equitable cities that can improve the welfare of all city residents. Another goal is to create urban spaces that enable city dwellers to enjoy freedom, interact with one another, participate in development, and contribute to city policy planning. Cities that have adopted an inclusive development approach will develop into cities that can improve the quality of life and well-being of their citizens.
