The design has the data paths and control paths. Always it is recommended to have the separate data path and control path in the design to have the clean timing. The area optimized data path and area optimized state machines to generate the control and timing signal is the main objective of the designer. In this context the chapter is useful to understand the data and control paths in the design and how we can use the area optimization techniques while passing data from the data path for the various control signals.
