While some institutions ban it, others see it as a helpful tool to improve student learning. This study focuses on a Taiwanese university that encourages the adoption of ChatGPT through a dedicated competition. It includes a literature review to examine the reasons behind varying policies. Additionally, it incorporates qualitative data from interviews with students and lecturers to gain insights into their views on AI in education. The findings aim to offer guidance on best practices for integrating AI tools, such as ChatGPT and/or GenAI, into academic settings, potentially serving as a reference for other universities.
