Pre-service Teachers’ Perceptions of ChatGPT in Education: Opportunities and Challenges
摘要
This study explores pre-service teachers’ perceptions of ChatGPT as an educational tool, examining both its opportunities and challenges in instructional settings. Using a descriptive method, data were collected through surveys with a random sample of 159 pre-service student teachers enrolled in the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching program at Ajman University. Findings indicate that ChatGPT offers significant benefits, including personalized learning support, enhanced lesson planning, and immediate student feedback. Additionally, participants highlighted its potential to improve classroom instruction by increasing efficiency and engagement. However, concerns were raised regarding the accuracy of AI-generated information, ethical considerations, and the risk of excessive dependence on technology. The study underscores the importance of teachers developing critical AI literacy to assess and integrate AI tools effectively. It also proposes recommendations for the successful integration of ChatGPT into teacher education programs. These findings contribute to the ongoing debate on AI in education, offering valuable insights for scholars, educators, and policymakers.
