The Role of BRICS in the Formation of Regional Monetary Unions
摘要
The article analyses current trends in international monetary law. Though the international monetary and financial system is amenable to never-ending changes, its international legal regulation evolves over time in a slower pace. To reveal the nature of these trends, it is necessary to employ comparative methods for studying new treaties and existing universal one. New treaties not only enrich current international law but also demonstrate how the meaning of provisions in existing treaties evolves over time. Comparative international law is supplemented by the synthesis of regional treaties and treaties adopted by BRICS countries. The article concludes that regionalisation itself contributes to universal regulation but the process of transformation of universal monetary law is driven not only by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) but also by BRICS countries.
