Analysis of Weld Fracture of Circulating Jellyfish Pipe in a Power Plant
摘要
The circulating jellyfish pipe of a 600 MW unit broke in the starting stage. In the overheated zone of the weld heat-affected zone, a relatively thick Widmanstätten structure tends to form due to the rapid cooling rate, which consequently increases the brittleness of the welded material. The result show that there are welding slags or welding tumors in the weld of circulating jellyfish pipe; the weld tissue is uneven and thick Wei’s tissue exists. Improper welding operations can lead to internal defects like porosity, slag inclusions, and cracks, which create stress concentrations and significantly increase the risk of brittle fracture.
