Neoliberal Modernity and Development Paradox
摘要
In this chapter, neoliberal modernity is elucidated through the proposition of three major approaches: neoliberal economic governance, neoliberal political governance, neoliberal “World Order,” and neoliberal consumer culture. The discussion extends to explore the implications of IMF policies on developing countries, alongside highlighting the roles of the WB and WTO in the imposition of technological culture and expansion of one-dimensional culture. Furthermore, this chapter critically evaluates the impact of the global governance system on the structure of developing countries. Through a nuanced analysis of these intersections, it dissects their roles in shaping the paradoxical nature of development. Specific attention is dedicated to unraveling the answer to how different neoliberal governance system generates development as paradoxical phenomenon, which is inherent in the contemporary culture and politics.
