Economic Evolutionary Perspective of Development: Marx and Rostow
摘要
This chapter addresses the evolutionary perspective from an economic standpoint within the framework of sociological theories of development. It scrutinizes Karl Marx’s historical materialism and dialectic materialism, offering a critical examination of the economic determinants of development. The discussion further extends to Rostow’s theory, outlining the evolutionary stages of economic growth. A pivotal element of this chapter involves a meticulous critique of the economic evolutionary perspective, providing a balanced perspective on its strengths and limitations. Additionally, this chapter highlights the shortcomings of each evolutionary process, leading toward utopian thoughts. By summarizing key insights, this chapter paves the way for subsequent explorations in the evolving landscape of sociological theories of development.
