This chapter advances the discourse by meticulously analysing the reception and impact of Qatar’s foreign policy roles in Egypt, Libya, and Syria while tracing the evolution of these roles since the onset of the Arab Spring in 2013. It adopts a dual focus, examining both national and international dimensions of foreign policy, with a particular emphasis on identity, a topic that presents its own set of challenges. This analysis builds on the foundations laid in the preceding chapters, incorporating themes of Kaabat al-Madhyum and Qatari Wahhabism that are recurrent throughout this chapter. Kaabat al-Madhyum emphasises hosting, saving, and empowering people, while the religious movement of Wahhabism, which, though unique to Qatar, shares some commonalities with variations found in the KSA. Notably, the Qatari version of Wahhabism, as explored previously, emphasises reform and the role of Ulama and the Ibn Abdul-Wahhab Mosque in fostering dialogue over violence.
